Concealed Handguns
The North Carolina General Assembly enacted a concealed handgun
law that allows qualifying citizens of North Carolina the
opportunity to obtain a permit to carry a concealed handgun. This
law became effective on December 1,1995, and requires that the
permit be secured from the sheriff of the permittee's county of
residence. Once issued, the permit is valid throughout the state for
a period of Five years, unless it has been revoked.
The SBI's Division of Criminal Information maintains
statistics by county on the
number of applications for Concealed Handgun Permits, the number
of Concealed Handgun Permits that have been issued, the number
of Concealed Handgun Permits that have been denied and the
number of Concealed Handgun Permits that have been revoked since
December 1, 1995. As of August 14, 2003, North Carolina law
allows residents of other states who have a Concealed Handgun
Permit issued by their state to carry concealed handguns in
North Carolina if the person's state also grants the same
privilege to North Carolinians.

NOTE !!!
This is a 2 night course designed for the experienced Shooter.
Student should have their own firearm and be able to demonstrate
proper gun safety prior to enrolling in class.

How Does Someone Obtain a Concealed Carry
Permit ?
Step 1) Contact Shooter's
Indoor Sports, Sign up for your NC concealed
carry course, complete that course, and get a
training certificate for having done so.
Step 2) Go to the Sheriff's
permit office in the county you live (usually
the same place pistol purchase permits are
obtained), and have your NC State Drivers
License with you. They will give you an
application that you must complete and swear as
accurate under oath. You will then be taken to
get fingerprinted. You must pay the $90 fee for
the license (which is non refundable) and a $10
fee for the fingerprints. You must also sign a
waiver, so your medical records can be looked
into.
Step 3) Your application will
then be sent off to the State Bureau of
Investigation. They have 90 days to issue or
deny a permit. If your permit is denied, the
Sheriff must put the reason in writing, and you
will receive such notice in the mail. If you are
approved for your permit, you will receive a
phone call from the Sheriff in your county
letting you know, and you will be able to pick
up your permit at the same location in which you
applied for it.

Firearm Regulations
Please be aware that federal law restricts the sale of firearms
to citizens over age 18 (over age 21 for pistols and revolvers) who pass an
instant background check with local law enforcement at the point of
sale conducted by the dealer. Many other federal, state and local
restrictions also apply to the sale, ownership, use and storage of
firearms.
In general, you may not purchase a firearm if you are a minor, a
convicted felon, a fugitive from justice, a person convicted of a
misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, under a domestic restraining
order, are addicted to drugs or a habitual drug user, have been
dishonorably discharged from the Armed Forces, are not a citizen of
the United States or have ever renounced your citizenship. In
addition, many states impose additional restrictions and
qualifications upon prospective firearms purchasers. There are over
20,000 firearms laws presently in effect across the nation. Please
contact your local law enforcement for further details, or you may
go to the BATF web site
www.atf.gov/firearms/statelaws/22edition.htm
and request their current publication, "State Laws and Published
Ordinances - Firearms."
While firearms may be purchased as gifts for legally qualified
individuals, it is a serious federal offense to attempt to purchase
a firearm for an unqualified individual who is not permitted by law
to own a firearm. For more information, please view "Don't
Lie for the Other Guy*" for details about the joint NSSF/BATF
program. Finally, it goes without saying that if you are legally
disqualified from owning a firearm for any reason, or you are not
willing to meet the serious responsibilities of their safe
ownership, handling, and storage, we urge you not to purchase or
attempt to purchase any firearm!
Shooter's Indoor Sports reserves the right to deny the sale of a
firearm if all legal requirements are not met.
